About This Workshop

The Monarch Teacher Network of Canada's signature workshop has been designed to give participants the knowledge, skills, and resources to create outstanding learning experiences for their students, nature clubs, and community.

Delivered by experts from the Monarch Teacher Network of Canada, participants will learn about the life cycle, migration and habitat requirements of the Monarch butterfly. Training on appropriate handling and care protocols, tagging and tracking of migrating Monarchs and ethical considerations related to species conservation will also be covered. Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Graduates of this workshop will be able to register as Authorized Teachers with MTN of Canada's Wildlife Scientific Collector's Authorization.

Thanks to the generous support of TRCA's Peel EcoSchools program, this workshop is FREE for Peel Region teachers participating in Ontario EcoSchools. To obtain the special registration code, please contact Vicky An at van@trca.on.ca

About This Workshop

Learn how to incorporate Monarch butterflies into the Kindergarten - Grade 8 curriculum! This fun and experiential module will guide you through classroom activities that will teach essential skills across the elementary curriculum in science, literacy, geography and other subject areas. Morning refreshment and lunch will be provided.

Session highlights include:

Completion of the "Teaching & Learning with Monarch Butterflies" workshop is storngly recommended, but not a requirement.
